Validation & Research

There are three elements required for modelling to be effective and reliable. These are, in order of importance:

  • an experienced modeller
  • a tested modelling methodology
  • reliable software

Here at CDC we have expert modellers with over ten years of experience in schools modelling.

We are arguably the only company having carried out extensive research into schools flow modelling and methodology development - winning the ICE Safety in Design medal for existing research (Design and Space Planning for Secondary Schools). We are committed to ongoing research in the area, having a programme of research at Loughborough University currently investigating school queuing during lunchtimes and for cloakrooms (www.lboro.ac.uk/cice).

The software used by CDC is industry leading commercial software buildingEXODUS ®, together with in-house time-tabling routines that enable modelling of the school environment and a bespoke solution for each school.
